The theme of this year’s DesignDC conference is Rooted in Resilience. The Mid-Atlantic region has led the way in making the built environment and the AEC industry more resilient in the four Dimensions laid out by 100 Resilient Cities: Leadership & Strategy, Health & Wellbeing, Economy & Society, and Infrastructure & Environment. By taking actions to advocate for public transportation systems and protect against natural disasters, providing resources to underserved populations, making diverse hires, staying up-to- date on technology, varying marketing strategies, building with sustainable materials, and following safety and well-being codes, architects and designers are making a difference for themselves and their fellow citizens.
DesignDC 2017 will look at how the region has achieved resiliency and how architects, interior designers, engineers, contractors, planners, landscape architects, and developers can be leaders in advocating for resiliency. Washington, DC has been named one of the 100 Resilient Cities of the world by the Rockefeller Foundation.
We are excited to announce the keynote speaker, Tim Beatley, author of Handbook of Biophilic City Planning & Design. His book is available for purchase at a special price as you complete your conference registration. Tim will be available to sign copies during DesignDC!
